Another popular style of poi, Monkey Fist Poi are heavy and long-burning. Their round shape offers the longest burn-time-to-volume ratio of all of our wicks. The standard #15 nickel-plated ball chain swivels at every "link," and has a good shine. The other standard features are 3.0 mm zinc-plated steel quicklinks and leather single-loop handles. The poi body can be upgraded to #15 stainless steel ball chain for a small additional cost.

Our Monkey Fist wick assemblies are made in a unique fashion; one "fist" is made out of a single length of rope that is tied into multiple monkey fist knots (one inside the other). The result is a fully-absorbent wick assembly, unlike those built with wooden cores. We also have two wick options. Fiberglass core rope wick assemblies are lower-priced, and are slightly smaller but heavier, whereas KEVLAR(R) core rope monkey fists are larger and lighter.

Glow sticks, glow poi balls, and many other types of LED equipment can be easily attached to the chain through the use of the pre-existing quicklinks.

Fire poi come in any length, up to 30 inches, measured end-to-end. If you are not sure what length is right for you, a good estimate can be made by measuring from your fingertips to your chest, with your arm held straight in front of you. Most measurements end up between 21 and 28 inches.

Small and Large K1 fiberglass-core-rope monkey fists are approximately 2.25 and 2.75 inches in diameter, respectively. Small and Large K1 aramid-core-rope monkey fists are approximately 2.5 and 3.0 inches in diameter, respectively.
