Ball chain (a.k.a. ballchain, bead chain) is one of the most popular chains in modern firedancing. The primary reason is its ability to swivel at every link, meaning that using additional swivels is no longer critical, but it is also very light. The use of ball chain can contribute to good wraps, fewer tangles, and happier wrists.
With 5 types of ball chain available, we offer more styles than any other firedancing supplier. The chains we offer are nickel-plated steel (NPS), Type 304 stainless steel (SS), blackened stainless steel (SSB), and the finished-steel Mystic Red (MRS) and Medieval Brass (MBS) ball chains. For light practice poi and lighter fire heads, we suggest #13 or #15 ball chain. For firedancing, we suggest #15 or #20. All ball chain offerings are sufficient for firedancing, but please check your chains regularly, and see our Equipment Care section for suggestions.
#13 ball chain has 1/4 in. balls, #15 chain has 5/16 in. balls, and #20 chain has 3/8 in. balls. #13 Type A connectors (sold separately) mate with #13 ball chain, while #20 Type A connectors mate with both #15 and #20 ball chain
